The "Other" Vegas

For those of you who think of Vegas as the party capital of the world and all the lights and noise that come with it, well did you know there is another side to Vegas.  This side even has a BEACH!!!  Who knew.

I had the pleasure to visit 3 very beautiful location in the Lake Las Vegas area.  There you will find amazing beauty, relaxation and serenity.  A whole different side to the Vegas experience. Located only 35 minutes from the famous Las Vegas strip in the city of Henderson, this location offers so much including award winning golf, a place to socialize at the Village, and numerous lake activities.

The Reflection Bay Golf Club

This beautiful golf club has a Jack Nicklaus Signature designed course and was named one of the top 100 resort golf courses in the US in 2015 & 2016 and was ranked 4th in Nevada by Golf Week.  It is an absolutely stunning location for a wedding as well.

This location has many little places to enjoy the perfect wedding however it is a great spot for a golf game for a Stag Party and accommodations at the Westin or the Hilton are perfect proximity to the course.

The Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa

This hotel is the newest 4 diamond resort in Lake Las Vegas.  This location has a very colonial feel and reminded me of a famous european city with the river that runs by the resort and the look of the buildings around it.

The resort itself it very elegant and sophisticated and has many locations to host a destination wedding, including a chapel.

There is also a wedding tent that is wonderful, the view is over looking the water and there is a gazebo right outside that you would do a garden style private ceremony.

I had the pleasure of meeting Candice & Sean in February of 2015.  I immediately fell in love with them.  In our first coordination meeting I knew their vision was on elegance, customization and uniqueness. It was very important that the wedding highlight their personalities.  Everything the Moon Palace Cancun could offer.

 How they met & fell in love

 We met May 9th, 2013. We connected on match.com and he picked me up for our blind date at my home. He was such a gentleman and so charismatic (still is), I immediately felt so comfortable with him. I knew instantly he was the one, it truly was love at first sight.

Most memorable moment…

"I have far too many memorable moments from the wedding.  It was truly perfect from beginning to end.  However, I especially loved when Sean smooshed a piece of cake in my face and I retaliated by lifting the top tier off the cake and putting the whole thing in his face.  It was so funny! Our guests were shocked.  There was cake everywhere!"

 "We customized our wedding in all aspects, that's what was so lovely about our resort." 

"One of our favourite customizations was during our first dance, we began dancing to Etta James "At Last", a typical ball room dancing song

and then had the DJ cut it off and we broke out into a choreographed hip hop dance routine to "baby got back" by Sir mix-a-lot.  We had learned the dance from you tube and practiced it for months.  The DJ did such an awesome job making it look like it was a mistake.  It was so much fun!" 

Through out the coordination of their wedding I provided them with insight on how to make the day their very own.  We coordinated all of their details to the exact vision for their wedding.  I am greatful to the team at Moon Palace for executing the wedding exactly how Candice, Sean & I planned it.

Traveling Tip - Wedding Dresses

Traveling Trip – Wedding Dress

When traveling to your destination wedding most brides often ask, how do I travel with my wedding dress.  It is actually quite simple.  All of your Canadian airlines offer something a little different, but they will all make the best effort to assist you.  A few things to keep in mind:

1. Do NOT check your wedding dress or put it into your luggage, take it as carry on, it is complimentary

2. Leave it in the garment bag you bought it in, put a tag on it so you know it is yours.  Often there is more than one dress in the same overhead bin.

3. Place it in the bin, fold over one.

4. If it is possible – pre-book the overhead bin through your wedding coordinator/Travel Advisor

5. Book for your dress to be steamed the day before the wedding to get any wrinkles out that may have occurred in transport

Transat – Wedding Dress

Quantity: 1 per person

Size: Not exceeding 135 x 60 cm (53 x 23.5 in)

Weight: Regular weight

Cost: Free of charge

Details:

Exceptionally, a wedding dress in a non-rigid garment bag, with measurements not to exceed 135 x 60 cm (53 x 23.5 in), may be carried on board, and can be laid out or gently rolled up in the overhead bin.

There are no closet facilities on board our aircraft.

The dress may be carried in addition to a regular-sized carry-on bag.

 Sunwing – Wedding Dress

If you've booked a group destination wedding with us, Sunwing will reserve an overhead bin for the bride to place her wedding gown. Please make arrangements at least 7 days in advance of travelling through your Group Sales agent to receive this complimentary service.

WestJet - Wedding Dress

Please feel free to bring your wedding dress on board in a garment bag as your personal item. There are no closets in the cabin, so please wait until all other carry-on baggage has been loaded and place your dress on top. We do not recommend bringing your dress in checked baggage.

Air Canada - Wedding Dress

Wedding dresses can be carried on board and stored in the overhead bin provided the garment bag does not exceed maximum carry-on limits. Note that items in the overhead bin can shift during the flight, possibly causing delicate pieces to be wrinkled, crushed or torn.
